GREENFIELD GOLDEN GIRLS
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY – 2020/2021
Greenfield Golden Girls – Girls Grades 1-6
No experience necessary. No audition.

Classes divided by grade levels and years experience.
Poms/Dance instruction to learn basic technique and routines for performances.
1 st Semester (Aug 24 - Nov 17): Classes meet once per week on Mondays – All Grades 1-6→ 6:00-7:00 pm
2 nd Semester (Jan 4– March 8): Classes meet once per week on Mondays – All Grades 1-6 → 6:00-7:00 pm
All classes are held at the Memorial Building gym on East North Street.
** Classes will STILL MEET on MLK and Presidents Day
Return: Januaury 4th
Last Class: March 8th

Tuition: $160.00 resident ($80.00 per semester) $172.00 non-resident ($86.00 per semester) -Must be
made in two payments. Submit ALL PAYMENTS to the Parks Department

Uniforms: Purchase of a custom made uniform is required. It consists of a custom made shirt and matching
black leggings and hair bow from Team Image in Greenfield.
Approximate cost: $60 .00
Members are required to provide white tennis shoes and socks.
The Parks Department provides poms for their use.

UNIFORM FITTING DAY: Monday, August 24th during practice. Will only be allowed to hold
shirts/pants up. Parents will use Team Image website to order.
Classes: Classes include warm-ups and instruction on stretching, strength and technique, movement and
rhythm exercises. Some basic dance technique is taught such as simple turns, spotting, locomotor movements,
body positions and poms arm positions. Choreography includes simple pom/dance movements, ripples, and
kick-line. Some simple formation changes are learned in each routine. Members also must learn how to line-up,
enter and exit the floor (from either side) for performances. Members practice their routines honing skills such
as timing, memorization, balance, synchronization, and performance.
Performances : Performances include local parade, basketball halftimes at county high schools, G-C dance
team competition, and others to be announced. A performance and awards night is held in the last class of the
season. All students receive an award pin and special participant trophy.

Goals and Objectives
● Each class will increase their knowledge of warm-up exercises and dance technique.
● Each routine is choreographed to their level of dance so it is fun but challenging.
● To schedule a variety of shows and venues for them to gain performance experience.
● To help them see the goals that have been set, to work toward them and have the satisfaction of attaining those
goals with an excellent performance.

Benefits to Participants
● To learn benefits of good warm-ups and proper warm-up exercises
● To improve their basic dance technique and learn terms for poms and dance.
● To improve their flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, memorization and rhythm.
● To give them the experience of being on a dance team, learning the discipline of working together in a group,
getting along with classmates and following directions.
● To gain self-confidence and poise through their many and varied performance opportunities.
● To set goals, work toward them, attain them and be rewarded for a job well done.

COVID Policy
● All parents must sign a waiver for each student before participating on August 24th.
● All students will be given a space on the gymnasium floor to help with social distancing.
● All students will be given hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the gym.
● All students will be assigned the same poms/bag to be used for the entire duration of the season.
● All parents are expected to screen their child before attending class or performance. If the student exhibits any
symptoms, please keep your child home.
● Drop Off Procedures-Due to Covid-19 safety precautions, parents may drop off dancers at the door. Dancers will
be greeted by staff and lead into the building.
● Dismissal Procedures-Parents may park a
nd meet their dancer in the grassy area outside the Memorial Building.
The youngest dancers will be released first.
