Happy Holidays! As you may already know, December has started off in a spectacular way. The City was blessed with great weather for the Christmas Festival and Parade of Lights, and even as this letter is written the weather is very pleasant.
During last night's City Council meeting our Clerk Treasurer Larry Breese was honored for his 20 years of service. Mr. Breese had decided not to run for another term and begin his new venture with friends and family. Larry's amazing knowledge and dedication to this city has been appreciated and he will be truly missed. As the new year begins I welcome the new Clerk Treasurer Lori Elmore and look forward to working with her and her staff.
Last night's meeting also included paying tribute to three outgoing City Council members. Jason Horning, Greg Carwein, and Judy Swift will be missed, and I want to thank them for their service to this community.
The meeting also honored the late Mayor Richard (Dick) Pasco. An ordinance was put in place to rename the Council Chambers the "Richard J. Pasco Council Chambers". It has been two years since Mayor Pasco's passing but his work, legacy, and vision live on.
As we prepare to move into 2016, my goals and visions for this celebrated city remain the same. We will continue to work hard for the citizens of Greenfield as we continue our journey of making this city a great place to live, work, and play. I ask that you share these goals with me. My office is always open and I encourage you to come meet with me to talk about ideas, plans, and goals that you may have regarding our city.
From all of us at City Hall; have a great holiday season!

We study history, we read history, we enjoy history because we want to learn, and we don't want to forget. We want to hold onto to that one piece of information for as long as we can. Every day we lose a little bit more of our piece of history. Every day a grandparent's journal gets tossed into the trash because it's just an old piece of paper. Every day old pictures get tossed without being scanned. But.....everyday a forgotten piece of history is also discovered. And that's what the inspiration for this month's article.
