April means it is time for the City of Greenfield's Annual Heavy Trash Pick-up. The dates for the pick are as follows:
April 18th for residents on the east side of State Road 9April 25th for residents on the west side of State Road 9
Trash will only be picked up inside of the CITY LIMITS. The eastern section will include properties east of State Road 9 to the City limits. The west side will include properties west of State Road 9 to the City limits.
Residents wanting items hauled away must call in so they can be placed on a list for pick-up, also any resident wishing to have a refrigerator, air conditioner, freezer and electronics picked up should say so when calling in. A special truck will go around and pick those items up. Items for pick-up should be placed at curbside by 7:00 am on both Saturdays. No items will be picked up in alley.
Calls for the east side pick-up must be in no later than noon on April 17th, the west side until noon on April 24th. Residents must call the Street Department for pick-up at 477-4380.
Once again this year there will be no household trash, limbs, tires, oil, batteries or other items designated by the Street Commissioner picked up. Paint will be picked up only when it is dry and in open containers. As it was last year, the city will not pick up any building materials.
This is a great opportunity to dispose of items that either cannot fit into a weekly trash pick-up, or should not be tossed into it. From all of us at City Hall; have a great month!Respectfully,
Chuck Fewell, Mayor

It's March in Indiana and if you don't know what that means then your either not from Indiana or you've been living under a rock. March in Indiana means basketball whether you like it or not. Basketball is my favorite sport and as a history buff one of my favorite things to research and study is the history of basketball. I've read every book possible, and there are many, about basketball in Indiana. Many, many years ago I began a personal trek of reading, learning and compiling history of basketball in Hancock County. I've written previous articles about the history of the sport and I would encourage you to read those as well.

Few desserts look more impressive than a classic fresh fruit tart. And, although you might think that making one would be difficult, this one is super easy. With a tasty sugar cookie crust and a simple cream cheese filling, all it takes is your favorite fruit and a little creativity and you've got a special dessert that will be sure to wow.
